01 Our Mission for This Space
Whisper Network exists so real people can discuss real subjects honestly. That includes politics and government, religion and faith, public accountability and investigations like ClayMoneyTrail, prison and criminal-justice issues, personal experience, and plenty of ordinary conversation in between. We built this to be a place where people can be heard, not a place that's been sanded down until nothing meaningful can be said.
02 The Core Message
You may encounter opinions, language, and conversations you find offensive, controversial, or uncomfortable. Disagreement alone is not a violation of our community rules. Read that again before you post or report something — it's the single most important rule on this page.
Whisper About It is a privately operated platform, not a government forum, and we don't promise unlimited or legally unrestricted speech here. But within the boundaries below, we deliberately leave room for debate, strong opinions, and subjects that aren't comfortable — because a community that only allows agreement isn't really a community.
03 Permitted Expression
The following are not, by themselves, grounds for content removal or member discipline:
- Disagreeing with another member, a moderator, or the operator.
- Criticizing public officials, institutions, companies, or public figures on matters of public concern.
- Holding and expressing a controversial political, religious, or social opinion.
- Ordinary profanity and strong language used in the course of normal conversation or argument.
- Blunt, uncomfortable, or unpopular personal experiences and perspectives, including about prison, criminal justice, or faith.
- Vigorous, even heated, debate — as long as it stays aimed at ideas and arguments, not the boundaries in Section 4.
04 Prohibited Conduct
These boundaries exist regardless of topic, and apply to everyone, including moderators and the operator:
- Credible threats of violence against any person or group.
- Targeted harassment and stalking — sustained, unwanted targeting of a specific person, on or off the platform.
- Doxxing — posting someone's private information (home address, workplace, phone number, legal name they haven't made public, and similar) without consent, to expose, intimidate, or enable harassment.
- Unlawful content of any kind.
- Sexual exploitation or abuse material, including anything involving or sexualizing minors — zero tolerance, reported to appropriate authorities where required by law.
- Fraud, scams, and impersonation of real people or organizations intended to deceive.
- Spam and malicious links, including phishing or malware distribution.
- Unauthorized account access — attempting to access another member's account or our systems without permission.
- Deliberate disruption of the platform — coordinated brigading, automated abuse, or attempts to break Whisper Network's functionality.
- Other conduct that creates a serious safety, legal, or security risk to members, the operator, or the platform.
Protecting minors and vulnerable members: content or conduct that sexualizes, targets, or endangers minors is never permitted and will be removed and escalated immediately, including to law enforcement where appropriate. We take extra care around content or conduct that preys on vulnerable members — for example, exploiting someone's incarceration, grief, or crisis to defraud or manipulate them.
05 How Reporting Actually Works
We want to tell you exactly what happens when you use the Report button, not an idealized version of it:
- Reporting a message, discussion, or reply sends it to a queue for moderator review.
- A report does not automatically hide, remove, or restrict anything. The content stays visible to the community exactly as it was until a moderator actually reviews it and makes a decision.
- If a moderator decides content should come down, it's marked hidden — not deleted — so the decision is reversible and the record is preserved for accountability.
- We do not currently guarantee that every report receives a personal, individualized response back to the reporter, or support a formal appeal process for every moderation decision. If that changes, this page will say so.
06 Abuse of the Reporting System
Reporting is a tool to flag real problems, not a way to win an argument or silence someone you disagree with. Repeatedly submitting knowingly false reports, deliberately misrepresenting what was actually said, or using the reporting system to harass another member may lead to a warning, a temporary restriction, or suspension — the same escalation path as any other guideline violation.
That said, we want to be just as clear about what this rule does not mean:
- Good-faith reports are always welcome, even if a moderator ultimately decides no action is needed.
- Reports involving threats, harassment, exploitation, or illegal conduct are always taken seriously and reviewed carefully.
- A report that doesn't result in action isn't automatically treated as a "false" report — moderators weighing a close call differently than you did is normal, not evidence of abuse.
- You will not be punished simply for raising a genuine safety concern, even if it turns out to be a false alarm.
This rule exists for the small number of people who'd weaponize the report button against someone they just disagree with — not to discourage anyone from using it honestly.
07 Moderation Authority
Whisper About It may review, restrict, hide, or remove content and accounts under these Guidelines, the Terms of Service, and applicable law. Moderators and admins are given this authority specifically to apply these published rules, not to silence disagreement or criticism that falls within Section 3.
Moderation on this platform is handled by real people reviewing real reports, on a reasonably consistent basis, with more serious violations escalated faster and treated more seriously than minor or first-time issues. We're a small, mostly volunteer-run community, not a large company with a 24/7 trust-and-safety team — response times won't always be instant, but safety-critical reports are prioritized.
08 Consequences & Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, enforcement may include: a private warning, temporary restriction on posting, content being hidden, or account suspension/termination. Severe violations — credible threats, exploitation of minors, doxxing intended to enable harm — can result in immediate suspension without a prior warning. Everything else generally follows a reasonable escalation path rather than a first-offense ban.
09 A Note on Difficult Subjects
Because Whisper Network specifically welcomes discussion of politics, religion, public accountability, and the criminal-justice system, you should expect to encounter strong, sometimes upsetting opinions on these topics from other members — including viewpoints you find wrong, offensive, or hard to read. That's the trade-off of a genuinely open discussion space, and it's intentional, not a bug. If a specific topic area isn't for you, you're always free to simply not open that channel or not participate in that conversation — that's a better fit than reporting something you just don't want to see. (We don't yet have a per-channel mute or per-member block tool — see the gaps noted in the Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy & Minimum Age section.)
10 Minors & Unwanted Contact
Whisper About It currently requires members to be 18 or older (see the Terms of Service) — an interim policy while we finish the protections that would responsibly support a lower minimum. The full reasoning, including the Florida minors-online-safety law we researched, is in the Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy & Minimum Age section.
Whisper Network has no private messaging — every interaction happens in public, moderator-visible channels, not a private inbox. We don't yet have a self-service tool to block or mute a specific member; today, Report (Section 5) and direct contact with us (Section 11) are the available responses to unwanted contact from another member.
11 Contact & Urgent Safety Reports
Use the in-platform Report button for ordinary content concerns. For an urgent safety issue, or anything involving a credible threat, exploitation of a minor, or illegal conduct, contact us directly and immediately at [email protected] — don't wait on the normal report queue. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
These Guidelines work together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. This page is a platform-specific policy draft, not a substitute for legal review where enforcement decisions have serious consequences.
